Top 10 best websites to acquire digital skills for free in 2021/2022

Before we dive into the subject matter

“Top 10 best websites to acquire digital skills for free.”,

It will be very important for you to know what digital skills are, how to acquire them and where to acquire them for free.

What are digital skills?

Although I have already done justice to the topic “Digital skills 2021/2022”,  I will still give this information to add to it.

According to UNESCO, Digital skills are broadly defined as those needed to “use digital devices, communication applications, and networks to access and manage information.

In this article, I will concentrate on giving you a list of the websites where you can acquire digital skills. So I will not stress much on digital skills because I have done justice to that in my previous post.

So without wasting much of our time, here is the list:

1. Coursera

Coursera is the global online learning platform that offers anyone, anywhere access to online courses and degrees from world-class universities and companies.

Coursera was founded by Daphne Koller and Andrew Ng in 2012 with a vision of providing life-transforming learning experiences to learners around the world. Today, Coursera is a global online learning platform that offers anyone, anywhere, access to online courses and degrees from leading universities and companies.

Coursera has over 82 million learners, 100+ Fortune 500 companies, and more than 6,000 campuses, businesses, and governments come to Coursera to access world-class learning—anytime, anywhere.

Courses in Coursera are free except you want to acquire the certificate, then you will have to pay for it.

2. Udemy

Udemy is an online learning and teaching marketplace with over 155000 courses and 40 million students. Learn programming, marketing, data science, and so on. It has both free and paid courses. 3. Edx

edX is an American massive open online course (MOOC) provider created by Harvard and MIT. It hosts online university-level courses in a wide range of disciplines to a worldwide student body, including some courses at no charge. It also conducts research into learning based on how people use its platform.

4. Future Learn

FutureLearn is an online education provider based in the UK that offers online courses, popularly known as MOOCs or Massive Open Online Courses, from top universities and institutions around the world. Currently, it has 175 partners including many top UK universities. Non-university partners include Amnesty International and UNESCO.

FutureLearn was launched in 2013 by The Open University which has a long history of distance learning and online education. FutureLearn is the fifth most popular MOOC provider in the world based on the number of students (over 15 million learners) and has an active catalog of around 1100 online courses. 

5. Code Academy

Codecademy is an American online interactive platform that offers free coding classes in 12 different programming languages including Python (pandas-Python libraryBeautiful Soup-Python Library), JavaGoJavaScript (jQueryAngularJSReact.js), Ruby (Ruby on Rails-Ruby framework), SQLC++C#Swift, and Sass, as well as markup languages HTML and CSS. It is free to join.

6. Udacity

Udacity is an online learning platform offering groundbreaking credential programs in fields such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, self-driving, etc.

Udacity has around 200 courses that are completely free (but do not offer a certificate). Usually, these courses are created as part of a paid micro-credential that Udacity offers called a Nanodegree.

7. MIT

MIT stands for (Massachusetts Institute of Technology), is a private land-grant research university in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Established in 1861, MIT has since played a key role in the development of modern technology and science and has been ranked among the top academic institutions in the world. They have both paid and free courses.

8. Harvard

Harvard is offering free online courses with paid printable certificates. The Harvard University free online courses are available to everyone from any corner of the world. All courses including Computer Science, Social Science, Data Science, Humanities, Business, Health & Medicine, Mathematics, Programming, Education & Training are available.

9. University of London

The University of London is a federal University that includes 18 world-leading Colleges. They have distance learning programs that were founded in 1858 and have enriched the lives of thousands of students, delivering high-quality University of London degrees wherever our students are across the globe.

10.  UC Berkeley

The University of California, Berkeley is a public land-grant research university in Berkeley, California. Established in 1868 as the University of California, it is the state’s first land-grant university and the first campus of the University of California system. They offer free online courses through EDX.
